Commission Inquiry
Many people look for art that compliments their home, but paintings aren’t simply decor. A work of art is meaningful - a lifetime of pleasure and intrigue (as my mother would put it). Sitting with a painting can help thoughts shift, similar to meditation or reflection. There’s something new to discover every time.
My commission process is collaborative and fun - we sit down (or Zoom) and explore the space or place you want to memorialize, or simply what kind of landscape you want in your home. We first explore what kind of mood or feeling you are looking for, and then I use photographs and sketches to finalize a general composition, color palette, and light effect.
Upon agreement of vision and timeline a contract is signed and half deposit is required. Studio visits to enjoy the process are always welcome.
Commission Testimonies
“ I chose Rhea for the commission of our beloved family cottage because of her exceptional talent as a painter. Rhea was a delight to work with. She is incredibly gifted and deeply perceptive. We cherish the painting she did for us and it will be passed down to future generations”
- Libby, a docent at The Barnes Foundation Museum and the conservator of a historic Pennsylvania estate. She gave me a few iPhone photographs of the location and specified what she wanted - a hint of the duck blind, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and the desire for tranquil morning light on a clear day. Red Clover on the Chesapeake was painted in 2019.
